Citrine/Yellow Topaz

Citrine belongs to the quartz family and comes in a range of colours such as yellow, yellowy-brown, orange, dark orange and a reddish-brown. When citrine crystals form together with amethyst or smoky quartz they create a bi-colored quartz called ametrine. Natural citrine is pale yellow to pale orange, much lighter than the heat-treated citrine which is dark orange-brown to reddish-brown. Citrine is sometimes confused with the more expensive orangey-yellow topaz. The gem stone is supposed to help the promote creativity.

The word ‘topaz’ is Sanskrit for fire and it comes in a range of colours including yellow. Yellow topaz was thought to be a stone of the sun because of its colour and often considered as a royal stone. It is said to assist clarity and understanding as well as being a protective stone.
