Peridot is a green gem stone, that was known as the ‘evening emerald’ by the ancient Romans, as they noticed its green color shone even more brightly by lamplight, so it resembled deep green emeralds. Peridot is a gemstone variety of the mineral olivine and it ranges in colour from a yellowish green to a dark lime-green. Brownish versions are also found, but the most desirable colour is lime green. Peridot is thought to bring the wearer success, good luck and peace. It is meant to be powerful for health, protection, and sleep.
