But pearls can and should be worn for all occasions for their beauty and they symbolise innocence, purity, modesty and love. To care for pearl jewelry always put them last on and take them off first, to avoid acid attack from perfume, make-up and your skin. After wearing pearls, wipe with a clean, damp cloth and store in acid free tissue. As pearls are very soft, protect them from other jewellery during storage and transit.
