Black & White - Onyx and Mother of Pearl

Onyx - a deep black stone gemstone, is usually given as a gift on the seventh and tenth wedding anniversary. It is a chalcedony quartz and although usually black, comes with white bands on a black or brown background and then called 'sardonyx'. Onyx is said to regenerate and encourage happiness and intuition.

MOTHER-OF-PEARL
Mother of pearl is the name for iridescent nacre, a mix of minerals secreted by oysters and other molluscs inside their shells to coat and protect them from foreign objects and attack. It has a gorgeous gleam and is used decoratively for many objects as well as jewellery.
